The 19th of April was an important day for the recently commissioned Mynydd Portref site as Lesley Griffiths, Cabinet Secretary for Rural and Environmental Affairs, paid a visit. Shown around by members of our Development Team, Matthew Partridge, Simon Morgan and Andrews Penfold, Lesley was talked through the details of the development and shown the Gamesa turbines in action.
The 2017 construction to the already operating site, saw the installation of 6 new Gamesa turbines with a total 12MW output.Over 65% of all contracts were spent in Wales, totalling a £7.85m spend. Alongside this we are proud to say that the project has also generated over £190,000 for local community projects including contribution to the development of the Thomastown Community Centre and a strength and conditioning room at the Gilfach Goch Amateur Boxing Club.
We are actively seeking new development opportunities in Wales which will play an important role in reaching the ambitious target announced by Lesley in September 2017 – https://gov.wales/newsroom/environmentandcountryside/2017/170928-lesley-griffiths-high-on-ambition-for-clean-energy/?lang=en
