We have a responsibility to our customers, employees, communities and shareholders to ensure sustainability is met in a responsible way.
We are a Living Wage employer. That means our employees, and increasingly the contractors working on our sites, receive at least the Living Wage hourly rate, independently set to ensure people can cover the basic cost of living in the UK. We believe that paying at least the Living Wage is an important contributor to reducing in-work poverty throughout the UK
Our long term success also depends on being able to retain, develop and attract a diverse mix of employees. We aim to do this by being a responsible employer, creating sustainable employment whilst recognising the contribution an engaged workforce makes to meeting the needs of our customers, the achievement of our business goals and to the development of society as a whole.
We pride ourselves on being a great place to work, characterised by engaged, motivated and committed people who already work for us and our ability to attract a talented and diverse range of new people to meet changing business needs. We believe we have an important role to play in trying to mitigate the potential impacts of climate change, in particular helping the UK move towards a less carbon intensive energy system.
Most of all we want to be recognised for being a helpful company, one that places its service and engagement with customers, staff and the communities in which its operates at the forefront of all that it does.
All our wind and solar projects have established community schemes that are intended to benefit local causes. So far RPM projects have contributed in the region of £1.5m to a range of charities, in particular supporting local schools and hospitals. We take the distribution of funds generated by our renewable energy projects very seriously, viewing it as an integral part of being a member of the community in which our projects sit.
RPM has also established the REG Charitable Foundation which supports, on a matched funding basis, charitable causes.
