Prospective wind or solar projects need to be rigorously assessed before investment approval is sought for project development. Typically, our internal team will use their experience and expertise, combined with input from specialist consultants as necessary, to understand the key projects risks which are likely to arise on each project opportunity.

Site Identification

We identify potential project opportunities in one of two ways:

  1. We lean on our network of land agent relationships across the UK to proactively approach owners of land which we have identified as being suitable for wind or solar development; or
  2. We are contacted by interested landowners, either directly or through their land agent, requesting that we assess the suitability of their land for a renewable energy development.

Site Screening and Feasibility

We assess potential sites to determine their suitability for wind or solar PV. This includes evaluating the available land area, wind or solar resource availability, grid connection cost and connection date, access, technical and environmental constraints, aviation, landscape and visual effects, cumulative development risk and economic factors such as capital and operating costs. Each of these issues is assessed and these feed into the investment appraisal submitted to our investors as part of a project acceptance process.
