Nettly Burn Renewable Energy Park

Solar, Under Development

We are currently working with Grupotec to develop proposals for a solar farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) known as the Nettly Burn Renewable Energy Park. The proposals are at an early stage but because the project is for an electricity generating station likely to be in excess of 50MW of installed capacity, the determining authority for a subsequent application for consent will be the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit.

Greenburn Wind Farm

Under Development, Wind

REG Greenburn Ltd has developed proposals for a wind farm and battery storage facility adjacent to the former Greenburn opencast coal mine near New Cumnock.

Formerly a world-class mining operation, coal extraction at Greenburn ended in 2018. The landscape restoration works were completed in the summer of 2019, with final work being carried out in 2020.

Although the wind farm will be located next to the restored land, the land use at Greenburn demonstrates the full evolution of power generation.

The Section 36 application - reference  ECU00002037 - was submitted to the Energy Consents Unit in March 2020 and approved by Scottish Ministers on 21 April 2023.

This site includes a 10MW battery.

Installed Capacity:
73.00

Knockkippen Wind Farm

Under Development, Wind

The Knockkippen Wind Farm proposal consists of 12 turbines of up to 180m to tip with a battery storage facility, solar panels and associated infrastructure.

The Section 36 application - reference ECU00004523 - was submitted to the Energy Consents Unit in June 2022.

Highfield Eco Hub

Solar, Under Development

The Highfield Eco Hub project is a solar PV array with battery storage and electric vehicle (EV) charging, located near Royston, South Cambridgeshire. The project is anticipated to have a combined installed capacity of up to 18MW of solar PV and battery storage, producing renewable electricity equivalent to the demand of around 5,000 average UK homes.

The project was granted planning consent in August 2023 and is expected to be built in 2025.

Installed Capacity:
17.00

MW
